Feasible and practical applications of research for K-12 schools
Professional learning and communicating research for educators is at the heart of what I do! I tailor-make all professional learning opportunities to meet individual needs of states, districts, and teachers and to be aligned with the latest research. I provide professional development services on a wide range on literacy topics including but not limited to:
- Science of reading and early reading instruction
- Comprehension instruction: supporting all learners in engaging in meaningful reading instruction around a rigorous texts
- Vocabulary supports
- Writing instruction, supporting all learners in writing to learn and process writing
- Using quad text sets to support literacy development and content learning
- Integrating literacy and content learning
- Supporting literacy development for all learners, including those from dominant backgrounds such as English Language Learners
- Adolescent literacy
- Evaluating and revising a literacy program in a school or district
- Developing a division wide literacy vision and reflective practice
Examples of Professional Development Services:
- Half day or full day workshops (virtual or in person)
- Follow up or literacy coaching services
- Curriculum planning with teachers
- Meeting with administrators and division leaders to discuss and develop literacy practices for a division
