Minilessons!
So students are now reading and you are ready to teach your standards using student’s choice novels. The best way to do this is through minilessons. Here is an outline of the basic premises of a minilesson.
- Should be short- 15-30 minutes plus time for application with independent novels.
- Pick a small part of a standard to teach
- Use a shared text to use with the whole class
- Use excerpts of books that you think students will want to read or high quality literature
